30 replacements for Jimmy Fallon on Tonight Show
By Jeremy Dick
28. Nick Offerman
Not everyone is familiar with Offerman’s name, but most of us have at least heard of Ron Swanson. Featured on Parks and Recreation, Swanson was a highly entertaining character considered to be one of the funniest about the show. His time spent in the role won him the Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy.
But there’s so much more comedy to be found in with Offerman. With experience in improv, Offerman has been a comedian for years. In 2013, he wrote the semi-autobiographical book Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living, which was absolutely hilarious. He followed it up with Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America’s Gutsiest Troublemakers in 2015, keeping the hilarity coming.
Offerman’s style of comedy would certainly bring a unique feel to it. Using him as the host of a late night talk show would present a program completely unlike any of the other late night shows currently on TV. But that might actually be a good thing, as every comedian should be bringing something new to the table when stepping into such a role. This was the case with all of the other The Tonight Show hosts as well, such as Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.
