3. Andy Samberg

We should all be able to agree that Andy Samberg is one of the best modern comedians to come out of Saturday Night Live. His time on the sketch comedy show lasted from 2005 to 2012, with Samberg only leaving to pursue other comedy aspirations. He would go on to appear as one of the leads on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a sitcom regarded by many critics as one of the funniest shows now on television.

Samberg is also one of the members of The Lonely Island, a comedy trio formed in 2001. When Samberg was hired as a featured player for SNL years later, his partners were also brought in as writers. The three of them have been credited with popularizing SNL‘s digital shorts, which became huge viral hits online. They also created the feature films Hot Rod and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

Offering a very unique style and presence, putting Samberg on The Tonight Show would certainly add a totally different feel to it. At the same time, it would be just as hilarious, if not more so, than what Jimmy Fallon has been doing the past few years. If the time comes to replace Fallon, I fully expect Samberg to be on the short list.
