30 replacements for Jimmy Fallon on Tonight Show
By Jeremy Dick
6. Tina Fey
This is another person who has become massively famous based on her time on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey will always be known as one of the very best SNL alum, and with very good reason. As a performer, Fey could make entire audiences laugh almost effortlessly, as she’s just a natural when it comes to comedy. She would appear in nearly 200 episodes and become a legendary television comedian.
But aside from playing Sarah Palin so convincingly that it’s easy to mistake her parody with the real thing, Fey has many other talents. She created the excellent sitcom series 30 Rock, which aired from 2006 to 2013, and also co-created the beloved Netflix original series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It proves she knows good comedy and how to best present it to an audience.
Fey spent a lot of time co-anchoring Weekend Update on SNL with Amy Poehler, and I’d like to see her get a chance to do more by actually hosting her own talk show. Sure, if she were to replace Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, you’d be subbing one SNL alum with another. But, certainly, a lot of fans out there still might consider the switch to be an “upgrade”.
