9. Scott Aukerman

If you haven’t heard of Scott Aukerman, you should really familiarize yourself with him. Aukerman currently hosts the IFC comedy series Comedy Bang! Bang! which is derived from a popular weekly podcast of the same name (also hosted by Aukerman). The TV series and podcast regularly have prominent comedians as guests, and the material will quite often have you laughing to tears.

Aukerman first got his start on the sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David, and has maintained excellent comedy work ever since. His writing is so good that he has actually served as a writer for both the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Academy Awards. He was Andy Samberg’s head writer for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

With Zach Galifianakis, Aukerman also produced Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis, a humorous interview show with random celebrities. Aukerman directed the show’s most popular segment, an interview with Barack Obama, which won the 2014 Emmy Award for Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program.

The Comedy Bang! Bang! series on IFC would certainly be more outlandish than NBC would let Aukerman take things with The Tonight Show. But having writing credits for everything from podcasts to award shows, Aukerman would certainly be able to adapt and remain as funny as always.
