30 replacements for Jimmy Fallon on Tonight Show
By Jeremy Dick
21. Kevin Smith
New Jersey filmmaker Kevin Smith is a man of many talents. Primarily known for being a director, having helmed such beloved movies as Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Dogma, Smith is also a TV regular. He has fit in perfectly when appearing on shows like Talking Dead and Hollywood Game Night, working very well with other celebrities.
Like a lot of comedians, Smith also regularly hosts his own podcast called the SModcast. He will often tell stories and offer his opinions on various current events and goings-on in Hollywood. One of the filmmaker’s greatest qualities is how funny he is and how natural he come across when speaking with the guests he has on the show.
Performing in front of a crowd is also something Smith is accustomed to. He has done many appearances at colleges to present speeches and to Q & A sessions with the audience. Smith also hosted the Hulu original series Spoilers, which featured various special guests as Smith guided the proceedings.
Like Jimmy Fallon, Smith is excellent in front of an audience, and knows how to treat special guests. He might be expected to clean up his comedic material just a tad for a gig on a network show, but he’s talented enough to pull it off.
