Drake wasn’t the only rapper to get friend zoned at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, as G-Eazy was quickly rejected by Britney Spears during their performance.

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards were a huge success on Sunday night, but some of the biggest names in the industry had to deal with some very awkward moments during the event, including pop superstar Britney Spears.

For the first time in almost a decade, Britney performed live at the VMAs. The pop star was accompanied by rapper G-Eazy so the two could perform their hit single, “Make Me…”. During the performance, G-Eazy and Britney continued to get very close to each other before the rapper finally decided to try and make a move.

During the end of the performance, G-Eazy appeared to go in for a kiss. Unfortunately for him, you could immediately tell that Britney wasn’t feeling it. In fact, you can even see her subtly shake her head at him as he tries to go in. You can watch the awkward interaction in the video below.

Yikes. That’s pretty brutal. Fortunately for G-Eazy, this interaction was overlooked to a degree thanks to Drake, who was also friend zoned by fellow hip-hop star Rihanna after delivering her the Vanguard Award.

On the bright side, G-Eazy and Britney are still riding the success of their song, which peaked all the way at No. 17 on the U.S. Billboard charts. The two were also spotted hanging out after the show, so it’s not like they’re done talking to each other.
