30 times Stephen Colbert embarrassed Donald Trump

8. Donald Trump’s big endorsement from a long-dead man
A lot of people have bafflingly endorsed Donald Trump, including celebrities like Scott Baio as previously mentioned. But the celebrity endorsement which was probably the biggest deal for Trump would be that of legendary actor John Wayne, known for often playing cowboys in classic Western films.
The problem? John Wayne is dead, and has been for many years. But apparently he was still able to give his endorsement spiritually through his daughter, who spoke on his behalf at an event to honor Trump. In front of a wax statue of Wayne, Trump embraced the endorsement as if the cowboy’s ghost was there to personally give it to him.
But perhaps Wayne endorsing Trump isn’t as farfetched as you’d think. On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert had a perfect way of looking at the situation. Colbert showed the clip of the event to his viewers, then followed it up with this joke which made the entire thing actually make a lot more sense:
“But for anyone out there who doubts this endorsement, consider this. If John Wayne were alive, he would be a 108 year old white guy, and that sounds like a Trump voter to me.”
