10. Trump’s idiotic philosophy on how to treat refugees
Republicans and Democrats have famously bickered about what to do with Syrian refugees. The Democrats mostly believe America should be offering them refuge and safety, while Republicans insist that it’s a threat as terrorists could be hiding among them. While we have yet to see a refugee commit a terrorist act in America, it’s something Republicans swear will happen.
Obviously this includes Donald Trump. The Donald has been notoriously hard on letting foreigners into the country, so this would of course be no different. Trump wants all Syrians to stay in Syria, even the ravaged families facing danger every day. But according to the former reality TV star, they wouldn’t be any worse staying there than they would be coming to Minnesota.
Why? Because “it’s cold”. Yep, Trump’s convincing argument to keep refugees in Syria was because they supposedly wouldn’t like the cold weather. With colder weather, why would they want to come here anyway? To answer that question, Stephen Colbert phrased it from the Syrians’ point of view:
“Yeah, it’s a tough call for the refugees. ‘Do I stay in a war zone where my family faces almost certain death, or do I want to go somewhere where I have to put on a jacket before I go to the mall?'”
