24. Hillary’s coin flipping victories
As we saw during the course of the Democratic primaries, Bernie Sanders gave Hillary Clinton a run for her money. Her race to the top turned out to not be as easy as she thought, and some of her victories over Sanders were so narrow that they were virtually a tie. After a slim win in Iowa, it was revealed that Clinton actually won six of her delegates with a legit coin toss.
There’s something to be said about picking presidential candidates the same way two young friends might determine who gets to ride in the front seat, and Stephen Colbert poked fun at it on The Late Show. Because the Super Bowl was coming up, Colbert came up with a joke to tie in Clinton’s six winning coin flips to the big game, as football games always begin with the flipping of a coin:
“And Hillary won all six of the coin tosses. With that kind of coin flipping prowess, forget the Democrats! The Broncos should draft Hillary for the Super Bowl on Sunday.”
Indeed, it was more than strange for Clinton to win all six coin tosses, so something needed to be said about her incredible luck.
