16. A fake president’s Hillary worship

Tony Goldwyn is a television actor best known for playing the president on the political drama series Scandal. So when he appeared as a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, it was only natural for him to be asked about what was going on in the country’s real-life political primaries. But there was another big reason to bring the topic up, aside from Goldwyn’s fictitious role on TV.

On the program, Goldwyn was revealed to be a supporter for Hillary Clinton, with Colbert even producing a picture of the two of them posing together. Not only was Goldwyn just a supporter of Hillary’s, though— he was literally a Hillary Clinton surrogate. But just mentioning that wasn’t enough for host Colbert, who wanted to prod the actor with an explanation, beginning with this humorous question:

“I have been told that you are a surrogate for Hillary Clinton. Okay, what does that mean, and is it painful?”

Goldwyn basically explained how his job as a surrogate was to always talk Hillary up, and apparently, never say anything negative about her. This led to a joke about how Goldwyn is definitely not his own man with his own opinions.
