Stephen Colbert doesn’t discriminate when it comes to taking down politicians on late night television, and Hillary Clinton is no exception. Let’s look at his 30 best jokes about the Democratic nominee.
It’s a wonderful time to be a late night talk show host. Never has the subject of politics given so much material for comedians on a daily basis, with the candidates taking turns one-upping each other with new gaffes more humiliating than the last.
Obviously, Donald Trump has taken the brunt of the media criticism, but he’s certainly a special case. Let’s not let that distract us from the fact that Hillary Clinton brings her own set of questionable activity and varying scandals to the table, leaving her open to be taken down on late night television. Often, you will see late night comedians taking Mrs. Clinton to task just has hard.
When it comes to political humor, Stephen Colbert just might be the master, and he will just as soon call out Clinton as he would Trump in the aftermath of each candidates’ embarrassing behaviors. So let’s go through and pull out his 30 best jokes on Hillary Clinton delivered on late night TV, and then we can see if maybe she’ll need some ice for those burns.
30. Comparing Clinton’s email scandal to Richard Gere’s “fetish”
All of us know about the infamous email scandal which saw Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton come under a lot of fire over using a personal server to store her emails. Republicans jumped on it as a chance to take down the Democratic leader ever since the news first broke out, with thousands and thousands of people across the country calling her for to be indicted.
After an FBI investigation, it was determined that Clinton would not be facing any criminal charges related to the emails. But, that still didn’t keep her safe from late night ridicule. Stephen Colbert took to The Late Show to prod Clinton’s decision to use a private server, even knowing her reputation as someone that is dishonest.
Colbert “took the gloves off” and dished out a stream of jokes about Clinton, the most hilarious of which would be this one:
“Come on Hillary, you knew that people think you’re untrustworthy, and then you did something untrustworthy! Thats like Richard Gere going to the pet store and hovering around the gerbil aisle.”
The quip, of course, is a dig at the widespread rumor that Richard Gere has a sexual fetish involving rodents, the specifics of which I won’t get into here.
