17. White supremacists love Donald Trump

While a lot of people thought there would never be a real contest between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, polls at different times have shown Trump actually leading Clinton in vital voting states like Ohio. On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Meyers examined how a big portion of Trump’s support comes from white supremacists. Trump always seems very willing to take on their support, at first, until the media catches wind of it.

One embarrassing example is California delegate William Johnson, a white nationalist and strong supporter of Trump. He had even recorded robo-calls for Trump which told potential voters that the “white race was dying out” and everyone needed to vote for Trump instead of the “Cuban” he was running against for the Republican nomination.

Trump’s camp claimed that Johnson was only invited because of a clerical error after this situation blew up in the media. But unfortunately for Trump, Johnson is far from the only white supremacist to publicly support him, including the leader of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke. I guess when someone begins their campaign with promises of building a wall to keep out immigrants, it’s really not all that surprising for white nationalists to flock to that candidate.
