20. The Daily Show examines Trump’s tweet of Mussolini quote
Another one of Donald Trump’s more amusing Twitter gaffes was when he tweeted a quote from infamous fascist Benito Mussolini, which read “It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep,” followed with the hashtagging of his common catch phrase about making America great again. It wasn’t long before the quote was attributed to Mussolini, and the Donald found himself having to answer for it.
As he always does, however, Trump chose to try to defend his blooper rather than apologize for it, as he can apparently never, ever be wrong. This gave Trevor Noah a chance to make fun of how dumb this truly was, showing the video of Trump on television squirming his way through a justification of the tweet.
When asked if if wanted to be associated with a fascist, Trump claimed that he only wanted to be associated with “interesting quotes”. The clip itself was funny enough, but Noah broke down the many things wrong with it for the audience of The Daily Show to laugh at. But the segment had to end with a scary part where Trump said he wanted to change libel laws to sue anyone who ever said anything negative about him in the press— so Noah reminded his viewers that Trump “wants to bang his daughter”.
