26. Sarah Silverman

With a few Emmy’s of her own in her back pocket, Sarah Silverman is more than qualified to host The Late Show. She’s pretty much covered everything at one point or another over the course of her stand-up and television career.

Mostly known for her stand-up specials, her work on The Sarah Silverman Program, and for being the itty-bitty voice of Vanellope von Schweetz in the animated film, Wreck-it-Ralph, Silverman is a comedic force that consistently delivers laughs.

Plus, Silverman has been banking on viral videos since that was even really a thing. Case in point, that time she visited her ex-boyfriend’s talk show where she presented a very interesting birthday present and revealed that she’d been cheating on him. Said ex-boyfriend was Jimmy Kimmel and the guy she was supposedly cheating on him with was Matt Damon.

You can check out the video here.

As bizarre as that video may seem, it’s 100% classic Silverman and earned her an Emmy.

Basically, Sarah Silverman performs in some other plane of comedy that exists somewhere between Amy Schumer’s inappropriate jokes and Larry David’s dark wit in a land where pigtails are the only hairstyle allowed and her juvenile tone (that is so perfectly suited for animation) is the most honest voice around.

Which means, she’d be perfect for CBS.
