30 people who can replace Stephen Colbert on The Late Show
By Buckie Wells
2. Natalie Morales
Natalie Morales is practically like the Jennifer Lopez of journalism.
Morales is a hard-working, Latina woman whose career covering major news stories on local networks and relationship with NBC (appearing on Dateline and Nightly News) has led her to become a correspondent on the Today Show beginning in 2006. As of August, following the Olympics, Morales will move to Los Angeles to become Today‘s west coast anchor, while also becoming the host of Access Hollywood.
And though Morales may seem like a serious host, she can be fun, too. In 2015, she made a cameo appearance in Sharknado 3, which actually has a surprisingly long list of otherwise respectable talent appearing in its franchise and continues to make sequels.
The third sequel, Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, will air on the Syfy channel on July 31st, though Morales is not expected to appear in this once.
Having been the host of both Miss USA and Miss Universe more than a couple times, it’s implied that one of Morales’ segments would be some sort of Miss Late Night sketch. I haven’t worked out all of the details, but I’ll be working on my pitch over the next four years.
Because by the time Stephen Colbert announces he’s leaving CBS, Morales can transition from Today to late night where she can kick some butt and look dope doing it.
