30 people who can replace Stephen Colbert on The Late Show
By Buckie Wells
3. Steve Martin
This was going to be Keith Olbermann, but there’s no reason to make a late night talk show on CBS just another job that he gets fired from. CBS deserves better.
We deserve better.
Therefore, I nominate Steve Martin in his place.
Steve Martin has been a successful comedian since the sixties and seventies, but started getting into acting by the late 1970s, officially becoming a star with his role in 1979’s The Jerk. After that, he starred in a ton of classic comedy films like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Parenthood, Father of the Bride, Cheaper by the Dozen, and the Pink Panther.
Lately, he’s been a little less active in the acting world. You’ve probably already said to yourself at one point, “Yeah, what the heck happened to Steve Martin?” Well, he returned to his comedy roots, picked up his old banjo, and released his first album in 2009 titled The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo. Now, before you laugh, let it be known that he won a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2010.
The best thing about Steve Martin is that he’s a well-known (and good looking) face that can double as a host and his own house band.
