30 people who can replace Stephen Colbert on The Late Show

5. Jonathan Ross
Hello, America, make way for another funny guy from across the pond.
Jonathan Ross became popular with his BBC chat show, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, but found himself in a bit of trouble with fellow comedian Russell Brand after a segment on Brand’s show where they made several prank phone calls that were not well-received by the prankees, particularly actor Andrew Sachs. Ross was suspended from his show briefly, but after 275 episodes, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross was ultimately canceled in 2010.
He currently hosts The Jonathan Ross Show, a similar chat show on ITV. He’s got a similar comedy style to Ricky Gervais, whom I considered on par with the styling of former late night host Craig Ferguson.
However, lucky for CBS, Ross probably comes with a much cheaper price tag than Gervais or Ferguson while being similarly as funny and well-known on the talk show circuit. He earned three BAFTA awards for Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, so he clearly knows how to maintain a talk show and deliver hilarious content.
The Late Show with Jonathan Ross just sounds like a show that’s already on the air, so let his accent sing the good people of America to sleep already.
