30 people who can replace Stephen Colbert on The Late Show
By Buckie Wells
9. Wayne Brady
Most famous for his starring role on the improvisational comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Wayne Brady is no stranger to the world of hosting.
His first hosting gig was with his own show, The Wayne Brady Show, on ABC (the network he was already working for on Whose Line). Even though The Wayne Brady Show never caught on, the show did earn five Daytime Emmy awards. In 2009, Brady put on his hosting hat once again for CBS’ Let’s Make a Deal.
But his skills don’t end there.
In March 2016, he completed his run on Broadway as Lola in Kinky Boots.
Brady has been doing a great job for CBS as a game shot host, so they should reconsider visiting his old tapes from February 2015 when he guest-hosted The Late Late Show and think about giving Brady a more permanent hosting position at a much later hour.
His history on Whose Line Is It Anyway? proves that he’s a goldmine of improv comedy, and combined with his various hosting stints, Brady would make an excellent candidate for The Late Show.
For some reason, I have this idea for a segment where Wayne does a traditional puppet show with socks that look like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. I feel like he could make that really funny.
