11. Steve Carell

Steve Carell might be most famous for portraying Michael Scott on the U.S. version of The Office, but his resume is much more extensive. Last year, he created the TBS comedy/police drama show, Angie Tribeca, and lends his voice to the multi-billion dollar Despicable Me franchise from Illumination Entertainment.

However, the thing that sticks out and makes him an excellent candidate for The Late Show is the five years he spent on The Daily Show as a correspondent. That means he knows the territory and is super familiar with what it takes to make it on a talk show.

Admittedly, he’s come a long way since his time on The Daily Show. His movies might not be smash hits at the box office, but they’re respected nonetheless. His performance as John du Pont in 2014’s Foxcatcher earned him several award nominations, but also showcased Carell’s dramatic chops and ability to lose himself in a wide range of roles.

If he went to late night, he’ll have no trouble accommodating the interests of the audience and keeping everyone on their toes.

Of course, CBS isn’t going to hire someone just because they seem like a really nice guy, but just look at him. He could be America’s late night teddy bear.
