30 people who can replace Stephen Colbert on The Late Show
By Buckie Wells
17. Jim Parsons
The success of CBS comedy, The Big Bang Theory, has a lot to do with the Jim Parsons’ role as Dr. Sheldon Cooper. He might give a mighty, Emmy-winning performance as a socially-awkward physicist, but Parsons is much smoother than Dr. Cooper in real life.
When he recently visited The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Parsons admitted that the people he is most awestruck by are either in sports or newscasting. He might actually be a nerd in real life, but about things that are much more relatable to the late night crowd.
The fate of The Big Bang Theory is currently undecided, with Parsons’ consistently enormous paycheck possibly becoming less consistent in the near future. While he’s found time to hit up Broadway in shows like The Normal Heart and An Act of God, he may want to consider getting in the ring with some of the same people that he admires best and become a late night host himself.
The Big Bang Theory has been on the air for ten seasons, so it’s more than apparent that he’s already built an incredibly large fanbase on CBS that will most likely follow him to his new show, which would air only, like, three hours later.
Also, his name is Jim, so he’s already on the right track.
