5. Stewart nearly un-retires after Trump announcement

Jon Stewart had announced that he was leaving The Daily Show already when the Republicans were getting ready to start the primary process for the 2016 elections. On one of his last shows, he joked about how difficult it was to leave, noting how fun it would be to coverage the upcoming circus the RNC would turn out to be.

He struggled the hardest when the announcement was played that Donald Trump was considering a run for President. Stewart soon played a clip of Trump telling the news how he supposedly had a “foolproof” plan to defeat ISIS “very quickly”, an apparent master plan to instantly put a stop to the feared terrorist group. But— he wasn’t going to tell anybody what it is.

Imitating Trump, Stewart mocked the presidential hopeful, insinuating that even if that were true, it would just make Trump, well, a horrible person. Here’s how he phrased it, through the point of view of Mr. Trump:

“Not because I don’t have a foolproof plan, I do. A foolproof plan that would work 100% and save thousands and thousands of lives. But I’m not gonna tell you, I’m withholding it for now because I am a tremendous asshole.”
