14. Stewart investigates whether Mitt Romney is a wizard

One of Mitt Romney’s biggest promises when he was running for President in 2012 was that he’d cut the deficit. Romney would suggest that the amount we were adding to the deficit every year was insane, and it was up to him to put a stop to it. The problem was, he wasn’t saying what he would cut, other than some rumblings about Obamacare and PBS— and he was certainly very eager to keep spending.

On The Daily Show, Stewart examined Romney’s claims, also noting his plans to keep some parts of Obamacare, as well as keep programs like social security, Medicaid, and employment programs. All the while, he’ll be planning to do things like “build more submarines and destroyers than the Pentagon even wants” AND cut taxes by 20%, with the overall master plan of lowering the debt deficit?

As this plan doesn’t seem possible without the use of magic, Stewart put Romney under the microscope and had to ask what we were all thinking:

“Are you a wizard? Do you know or have you ever captured a leprechaun? Is there a goose in your house whose eggs, once said goose produces them, are gigantic and unliftably heavy? Because, if not, you’re lying!”
