18. Stewart shuts down Mitt Romney criticism of Obama

In late 2014, President Obama issued an executive order over immigration, with a potential government shutdown. Obviously, this gave Republicans a chance to really put the screws to Obama over it, overselling their anguish as if this was the worst possible thing that could happen. You know, the same things they always said every time Obama ever did anything.

One of the Republicans taking to television to criticize the president was former Massachusetts governor and 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Romney went on Face the Nation to take down Obama for signing the executive order, saying that it went against what the people wanted. He said that Obama needed to “realize that he lost this last election round,” and that statement didn’t go unnoticed by The Daily Show.

If there’s one person who should know what it’s like to lose an election based on what the American people want, it was Mitt Romney, who came up well short in his 2012 race against Obama. Here’s Stewart’s retort to Romney’s statements:

“I remember the American people saying quite clearly a few years back, ‘ix-nay on the itt-May, and yet here you are on the elevision-tay, talking it-shay. But you know what, I apologize, you look great, what’s your secret? It’s probably not being President.”
