Vanessa Bayer (Ohio)

One of the funniest performers currently on Saturday Night Live, Vanessa Bayer was born in Orange, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Upon graduating, she attended college in Pennsylvania, where she would intern for shows like Sesame Street and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. This would lead to her being cast as a featured player on SNL in 2010.

In 2012, Bayer was made a repertory player on the program and has been going strong ever since. She is often referred to as one of the best the current cast has to offer, and has many excellent recurring characters. Some of these would be the timid Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy, upbeat teacher Miss Meadows, and child actress Laura Parsons.

Bayer is a champion with celebrity impressions, though, with her most iconic being her take on Miley Cyrus. Bayer first began spoofing Cyrus for “The Miley Cyrus Show” segments on SNL years ago, reprising the character every time the pop singer does something to put herself in the headlines again. In perhaps one of the funniest moments related to Bayer’s impression, Cyrus herself appeared in a sketch with her as the “new” Miley, with Bayer playing the “past” Miley Cyrus.
