30 most shocking moments in late night history

19. Craig Ferguson becomes a U.S. citizen on his late night show
Comedian Craig Ferguson is a Scottish native, having been born in Glasgow, but these days he can officially call himself an American citizen. This would be because of his passing a citizenship test back in 2008, a process which he documented on his CBS show The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, showing just how he came to be a genuine American.
Ferguson might be a funnyman, but he took his U.S. citizenship test very seriously. As seen on the program, he was asked several questions about the country and American politics, and most impressively, he passed by answering 100% of the questions correctly. It turns out, he knows more about the country than many of the American-born citizens watching the show at home.
As a true American citizen, Ferguson would host the late night show for many more years before finally moving on in 2014 to develop Celebrity Name Game. But perhaps the most intriguing moment to happen throughout his television career was acing the citizenship test for everyone to see on his show. But as you’d have a hard time finding anybody with something negative to say about Ferguson, he would certainly be an American the whole nation could be proud of.
