6. Bob Uecker

Uecker was a former MLB player, but was much better known for his wit as a sportscaster than his baseball play. He appeared over 100 times on the “Johnny Carson Tonight Show”, and hosted SNL in 1984. His dry humor and self-deprecating style made him a timeless hit on the show.

In one of the funniest early season SNL sketches, Bob Uecker hilariously releases his own son from his Little League team and signs a Little Leaguer from Cuba to take his place. The cantankerous old dad comes second nature to Uecker, as he casually talks about kicking his son out of his house and sending him to the Martins as an option player.

“Mr. Baseball” was a natural on Saturday Night Live, and provided a masterful performance.
