26. Jeff Gordon
It’s pretty hard to feel bad for Jeff Gordon, considering he’s a multi-millionaire NASCAR driver. However, his SNL showing was one of the worst. He jumped on the show in Season 28 with Avril Lavigne, and will likely be remembered for the short “The Terry Funcke Show”. Gordon’s failure on the show isn’t an indictment of Gordon himself, he’s a charming guy. There just wasn’t that much that he could work with on this show.
The show played heavily into some bad NASCAR stereotypes: a mullet, handlebar mustaches, relationships based on incest, and a ridiculous lack of self-awareness. It could have been better if it didn’t devolve into exactly what everyone expected when you bring a NASCAR driver onto the show.
