9. Chris Evert

No one got owned by SNL harder than Chris Evert when she hosted the show in 1989 towards the beginning of Season 15. The tennis pro took it upon herself to do a skit titled “Coping with a Wimbledon Loss”, which blasted her for completely blowing it at Wimbledon after yet another loss to Martina Navratilova. The sketch starts with a lip sync of Evert and a duke and duchess talking about how she blew it, then a live shot of her destroying the locker room, at one point using a forklift. The sketch ends with the Queen destroying the toilet.

One of Evert’s best sketches involves poking fun at the stigma of being a woman tennis player, making her choose between a boy and tennis. It involves singing, dancing, and a bunch of emotions, and the scene is promptly “shut down”, and makes fun of how Evert can’t do anything an actress can do.

Chris Evert really took it on the chin in this episode, and it culminated in one of the most memorable performances by a sports personality ever.
