The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Recap – 3-16
By Max Parker
Fallon is charged up after his week off with a fresh week of new episodes. Monday’s episode welcomed Eugene Levy from the show Schitt’s Creek and Shailene Woodley from the Divergent series. Tuesday’s show moved the week along with Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice Jesse Eisenberg and Zoe Kravitz. There was a game of flip cup involved. Here’s the full recap.
Monologue
There’s plenty of time to talk about politics later this week. That’s why Fallon kicked off Tuesday’s monologue with talk about The Bachelor finale. Since the show ended, this is the last time he got to talk about it. He played a supercut of Ben saying “he’s in love with two women.” After The Bachelor talk was out of the way, Jimmy touched on politics. He joked that Hillary Clinton will be on an upcoming episode of Comedy Central’s Broad City, while Bernie Sanders is set to appear on Antique Roadshow.
Joke of the monologue: “Earlier this week, a Trump rally had to be canceled due to fog. The fog was so thick, Trump supporters couldn’t even see who they were punching.”

Pros and Cons
If you’ve read my Fallon recaps in the past, you know I’m no fan of the bit Pros and Cons. You can usually see the punchline coming from a mile away. I guess something has to fill time when you do five shows a week. Tuesday’s topic was a solid one: Fallon weighed the good with the bad about going to Trump University. Here are some of the highlights.
Pro: Trump is offering free tuition
Con: By getting Mexico to pay for it
Pro: Trump talked about the schools large endowment
Con: By saying there’s absolutely no problem down there
Pro: Going to graduation and putting on your cap and gown
Con: Having trouble seeing out of the eyeholes
Holy mic drop on that last one! Well done by Fallon and its writers for going there.
The Guests
Jesse Eisenberg
In an unexpected turn, Fallon and Jesse kicked off the conversation by talking about NBC’s The Voice. It turns out Jesse knows the current front runner of the show very well. The contestant Owen Danoff is his sister’s boyfriend. They both live with Eisenberg. He says he’s always practicing in the house, but his voice is so beautiful that he’s always half annoyed and half happy. Danoff’s father wrote the famous song “Afternoon Delight.” After that conversation, Jesse talked about his unlikely friendship with Detroit Pistons Andre Drummond. Eisenberg is apparently a huge basketball fan and attended a Detroit Pistons game, and they hit it off after that. He also has to shoot baskets as Lex Luthor in Batman V. Superman. There’s a scene where he has to make a 3-point shot and turn around to talk to the people behind him. Unfortunately, it took him 30 takes before he actually made one. Jesse Eisenberg was a great Tonight Show guest. He was able to match Jimmy’s improv comedy skills with quick quips and genuine laughs. Jimmy and Jesse had a great and memorable conversation.
Zoe Kravitz
Zoe brought out a Kravitz family tradition, which was two dark and stormy beverages. I suppose that doesn’t help Jimmy’s alleged heavy drinking habits. Jimmy shared a story about when he went to the Bahamas, and Zoe’s father Lenny Kravitz unexpectedly met Jimmy at the airport when he arrived. Apparently, word travels fast around the small island. Zoe is also a musician in a band, and knows plenty about music. She’s actually playing at The Roots’ picnic coming up. As it turns out, she was on a Kenny Loggins album cover when she was younger. That’s a tidbit of music info that Questlove did not know. Zoe and Quest on are a first-name basis. After the break, the two played a game of Inflatable Flip Cup. As the name suggests, the two were in inflatable suits and played a game of flip cup.
Chris Martin
The musical guest doesn’t always sit down for an interview on The Tonight Show, but the musical guest isn’t always Coldplay. Jimmy congratulated him on his band and his career. They talked about the band’s huge Super Bowl performance. Jimmy showed a picture from the performance. Chris said Bruno suggested that everyone have a dance-off. Being in a dance-off with Bruno Mars and Beyonce is probably no easy task. He said he had an incredible time in that performance.
The episode concluded with a performance by Coldplay. Be sure to tune back in tomorrow when Fallon welcomes guests Jennifer Garner and Cuba Gooding Jr. It should be a good one!
