Samantha Bee destroyed that controversial Betsy DeVos political cartoon that made the rounds on Twitter this week.

Earlier this week, the internet was set ablaze — again — over a controversial political cartoon that made the rounds.

The political cartoon was a remake of an iconic Norman Rockwell work that depicted six-year old who was standing up in the face of oppression and adversity. It has remained a powerful image of the Civil Rights movement and is an iconic painting thanks to that intense context.

Needless to say, when a political cartoonist drew up a contemporary version of this painting, it wasn’t going to go over well. What really didn’t go over well was that the six-year old black student was replaced by an adult white woman who is in a position of power over six-year old black students everywhere.

Full Frontal host Samantha Bee decided to address this on her show this week. Rather than go on some long monologue about it, Bee ethered the conversation with a punctual — and vulgar — explanation of why this is so offensive to a lot of people.

“Right-wing douches spent Wednesday equating the suffering of black school children in 1960s Louisiana to the unspeakable anguish of a white billionaire encountering rude protesters,” Bee said before zipping up the body bag. “Do I need to say this: Conservative is not the N-Word. Conservative isn’t even the C-Word, you racists [expletive].”

That’s called going hard in the paint. Things ended on a lighter note though, but the sting of that burn Bee dropped is going to have a ripple effect.

Samantha Bee will be back next week with more body bags, Wednesday at 10p ET on TBS.
